Job Summary
We are seeking a driven and experienced Finance Manager to join our growing team. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the company's financial operations, ensuring compliance, and implementing strategic initiatives as we scale.
They will be experienced in working with global teams and navigating international business complexities and will have ownership of financial and management accounts, forecasting and planning and all internal and external reporting. They will be familiar with relevant compliance requirements for specific countries (e.g., Nigeria, Barbados, Kenya, USA). They will use project management experience and knowledge to implement and manage new systems and processes.
Responsibilities
- International Payroll and Payroll Systems:
- Develop and implement a robust system for processing payroll and international payments efficiently, including USD payments to countries like Nigeria, Barbados, Kenya, etc.
- Ensure smooth onboarding of employees and contractors by gathering necessary documentation and managing tax, compliance, and statutory payments.
- Partner with external providers (e.g., EORs, banks) to establish efficient payment and payroll processes for international employees and contractors.
- Financial Operations and Reporting
- Oversee all aspects of bookkeeping, including international payroll, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable management, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including annual tax returns, expense reports, balance sheets, and income statements.
- Develop and manage departmental/team budgets, providing regular reports and variance analyses.
- Conduct regular reviews of internal controls and ensure adherence to accounting standards and regulations.
- Strategic Initiatives
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
- Support the development and implementation of financial strategies and initiatives aligned with the company's overall goals.
- Identify and recommend areas for cost optimization and process improvement.
- Stay informed of current trends in international finance, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Leadership and Collaboration
- Collaborate effectively with other departments (e.g. Legal, Operations, Marketing) to ensure alignment and support business objectives.
- Communicate financial information clearly and concisely to all levels of management.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a minimum of 7 years overall experience (4+ in senior role), Master’s degree in business related field (MBA) strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in international payments, payroll processing, and foreign exchange transactions (Knowledge of crypto payments is a plus).
- Strong understanding of international accounting principles, financial reporting standards and relevant tax regulations.
- Experience with accounting software and payroll systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels.
- Relevant certifications (ICAN, ACCA, etc.) are nice to have.
